The organization said that it greeted the significant anniversary of the October 4 declaration, practical programme for implementing the June 15 joint declaration.

The October 4 declaration which enjoyed warm support and appraisal by all the Koreans serves as the reunification programme which correctly indicates the road of the reunification to be followed by the compatriots, it noted.

Nevertheless, the Lee Myung Bak "government" totally denied the joint declarations, deteriorated the south-north relations and cut off the exchange and cooperation for the past five years of its office, while extremely escalating the confrontation with compatriots and creating the danger of a war.

The present regime has pushed the situation to the brink of a war while firing bullets and shells in the West Sea of Korea.

If the October 4 declaration had been sincerely implemented, such military danger would not have been created.

The organization urged the authorities to opt to implement the October 4 declaration, though belatedly.

The implementation of the October 4 declaration guarantees peace, reunification and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula, it noted, calling upon all the progressive forces to pool their efforts to oppose the authorities' moves for igniting a war and to usher in a new era of reunification and prosperity.
