The Indian paper Tourism Era said that the "declaration for development of north-south relations and peace and prosperity" was adopted at the north-south summit held in the capital city of Pyongyang of the DPRK in October 2007.

It noted that the October 4 declaration calls for independently settling the issue of national reunification in the idea of "By our nation itself" clarified in the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, attaching importance to the dignity and interests of the Korean nation and orientating everything toward it.

The October 4 declaration comprehensively deals with all issues arising for the development of the inter-Korean ties, achieving the peace of the Korean Peninsula and promoting the interests common to the nation, it said.

The contents clarified in the declaration constitute the realistic issues which are of key significance in warming the inter-Korean ties and achieving the independent reunification, peace and prosperity, it noted.

The declaration provides the important way for defusing the military tensions prevailing on the Korean Peninsula, positively propelling the development of the inter-Korean relations and achieving the common prosperity of the nation as it fully reflects the desire of the Korean nation to settle all issues in the direction of achieving reconciliation, cooperation and reunification, away from the concept dating back to the confrontation era, it noted.

The Internet homepages of the Switzerland－Korea Committee and the Swiss Group for the Study of the Juche Idea noted that the publication of the declaration was the historic event of great significance in the reunification movement of Korea.
