Implementation of North-South Declarations Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- The Media Headquarters of the South Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, the People's Solidarity for June 15 and October 4 Declarations and the Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea held a seminar in Seoul on October 4, the 5th anniversary of the publication of the October 4 declaration.

The speakers at the seminar accused Lee Myung Bak of having shunned the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and pressurized the north by pursuing his unilateral "policy toward the north."

The Lee group concluded that the "Cheonan" warship sinking case, in particular, was "caused by the north" without any evidence and cried out for "punishment" and "retaliation," seriously bedeviling the inter-Korean relations.

It is the work for laying groundwork for achieving prosperity common to the nation to realize reconciliation, cooperation and exchange between the south and the north.

They urged the "government" to pave the way for enterprises through positive south-north economic cooperation.

The implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration is the historical responsibility to be fulfilled by all the members of the Korean nation irrespective of ruling or opposition forces and progressive or conservative forces, they declared.
