At Least 10,000 Exemplary Teachers Produced This Year
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- The number of October 8 exemplary teachers is on the daily increase in the DPRK thanks to the drive to carry out the educational policy of the Workers' Party of Korea.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il put forth important tasks to be carried out to bring about a new turn in teaching and education while giving field guidance to Mubong Secondary School in Samjiyon County on Oct. 8, 2002. Many teachers and officials have been granted the honor of becoming "October 8 exemplary teachers" in the course of their drive to implement the tasks.

Such honor has been bestowed upon more than 10,000 teachers and officials in the field of education this year in recognition of their devotion made to train younger generation, bearing deep in mind the noble outlook of the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un on them.

Teachers of universities and colleges across the country including Kim Il Sung University, Pyongyang Medical College of the University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Nampho University of Fisheries and Phyongsong College of Economy have put teaching on an intensive and popular basis and increased efficiency of education methods with modern visual aids.

Qualifications of teachers have improved in the field of common education and new teaching methods have been actively explored to apply the heuristic method of teaching. Modern teaching aids have been contrived to contribute to experiments and practice as required by the developing reality.

More than a half of the teachers of factory, fishery and farm colleges had the honor of becoming exemplary teachers to do their bit in displaying the advantages and vitality of the study-while-working educational system in the DPRK.

Those teachers and officials are taking the lead in building knowledge-based economic power in hearty response to the Ordinance on Enforcing the Universal 12-year Compulsory Education.
