Chanai Longoen, chairman of the Thailand-DPRK Friendship Association, noted that the declaration clearly indicates practical ways to achieve national unity and reunification.

He said:

As soon as the declaration was published, the Korean people and other peace-loving and progressive people of the world fully supported and hailed it. They unanimously wished to see the declaration successfully implemented to develop the inter-Korean relations into reconciliation, cooperation, peace and prosperity.

However, the present south Korean "government" authorities totally denied the declaration and reacted to it with their confrontation policy, large-scale joint military drills and state-sponsored politically-motivated terrorism.

Marshal Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the Korean people, clarified that the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK would join hands with anyone who sincerely wants the reunification of the country and the peace and prosperity of the nation, and is now leading the cause of reunification.

He expressed the belief that Korea would be reunified without fail in accordance with the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo.

Christer Lundgren, chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, said that the October 4 declaration provided by General Secretary Kim Jong Il injected fresh vitality into the Korean people struggling for national reunification.

Prosperity, peace and reunification of the Korean nation can be achieved only when the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration are respected and implemented.
