A touch-and-go situation is prevailing on the Korean Peninsula due to the present regime's policy for escalating confrontation, it noted, adding:

It is the only way of defusing the danger of a war and preserving peace on the Korean Peninsula to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

Only when all the people turn out in the struggle to protect peace against war, will a phase of reunification and prosperity be opened on the peninsula.

The nation should not allow a war disaster to be imposed upon it, the appeal noted, calling on all people to pool their efforts to smash the war moves of the Lee Myung Bak regime and protect peace.
