Meanwhile, Japan's former Prime Minister Abe asserted that Japan needs to have a new unit capable of rapid deployment like U.S. Marines and it is required to have Japanese marines for defence and so on.

Minju Joson on Tuesday says in a bylined commentary:

This goes to prove that the Japanese reactionaries are making desperate efforts to completely turn SDF into an independent force for a war of aggression like the U.S. forces.

Their ultimate goal is to hold military hegemony in Asia, the commentary notes, adding that their scenario is to regain their position as "leader of Asia" backed by the strong military muscle at any cost and not to rule out even a war to carry it out.

It is not secret that the basic mission of the U.S. Marines is to destroy the targets and major objects, wipe out military forces in various regions of the world including Asia-Pacific region and Indian Ocean and seize and put under military control coastal areas and areas in the depth. It is as clear as daylight that the new marines which Japan is going to build will have the same mission and duty as the U.S. Marines.

This means that SDF is no longer forces for the defence of the country but will emerge war forces whose mission will be to launch preemptive attacks on other countries and invade them.

The projected emergence of a war state in Asia cannot but be a very dangerous development in view of world peace and security.

Japan's moves for militarism and war should be regarded as dangerous and checked.

Japan would be well advised to bear in mind that a war will bring it nothing but destruction.
