The Cambodian State Radio on Oct. 3 made a report under the title "Banner of Independent Reunification, Peace and Prosperity of Korea".

October 2007 saw the holding of the inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang and the adoption of the "Declaration for the Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity", it said, adding:

The October 4 declaration serves as a programme for comprehensively implementing the June 15 north-south joint declaration and a banner promoting the co-existence and co-prosperity of the Korean nation and propelling the independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

The October 4 declaration calls for independently settling the issue of reunification of the country in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and attaching importance to the dignity and interests of the nation and orientating everything toward them.

This shows that the declaration is based on the idea of "By our nation itself!" it being a practical reunification programme for developing the inter-Korean relations and achieving the reunification of the country by thoroughly supporting and defending the June 15 joint declaration and on the basis of it.

(F.M.90.5) Radio made reports on the proposal on Oct. 2 and 4.

It aired that the proposal calls for reunifying the country in such a way as founding a federal republic through the establishment of a unified national government on the condition that the north and the south of Korea recognize and tolerate each other's ideas and social systems, a government in which the two sides are represented on an equal footing and under which they exercise regional autonomy with equal rights and duties.

It noted that the proposal is the most just and reasonable reunification one reflecting the specific reality of Korea as well as the desire, wishes and interests of all the Koreans for independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

It added that the international community hoped for the detente of the Korean Peninsula and the realization of the reconciliation, unity and reunification of the Korean nation.
