Rodong Sinmun Slams U.S. Aim to Build Missile Shield in East Asia

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The U.S. moves to build a missile shield are a product of its reactionary strategy to dominate the world, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a bylined article. Panetta, U.S. secretary of Defense, when meeting the Japanese minister of Defense in Tokyo recently, agreed to set up another radar base in the southern area of Japan allegedly for coping with "threat of north Korea's missile attack." Earlier, the U.S. announced its plan to set up new radar bases in Japan and Southeast Asia and link them with missile interceptor systems deployed in land and waters in a bid to build a missile shied in East Asia. In fact, missile threat is posed not to the U.S. but to the DPRK and other countries in Asia, the article notes, laying bare the aim of the U.S. to set up the radar base in Japan. It goes on: The U.S. is the world's biggest possessor of attack missiles. This being a hard reality, the U.S. is getting crazy in the moves to build the missile shield, talking about "its defense" from "missile threat" from the DPRK. Lurking behind this is a sinister aim of the U.S. It seeks to make "missile threat" from the DPRK an established fact in an effort to dominate East Asia by force of arms. The U.S. frantic moves to build missile shields are straining the situation in the region and sparking off an arms race. News analysts comment at present that the U.S. projected building of missile shields in Asia is aimed, in actuality, to contain China and Russia. The U.S. is the arch criminal wrecking the world peace, security and stability and sparking a new arms race and missile race. |
