Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Ri Sun Ok, a housewife aged 52, is one of top players of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at the 5th World Veteran Taekwon-Do Championship held some time ago. She garnered two gold medals in pattern first degree and 60kg-catagary sparring match and was awarded a technical prize at the championship. Ri is not a career Taekwon-Do player. She was a basketball player at the Amnokgang Sports Team in her girlhood. After marriage, she learnt how to play Taekwon-Do from her husband, who is a Taekwon-Do expert. She told KCNA: "It was difficult for me, as a mother of two children, to practice Taekwon-Do. But, I never stopped training even a day, encouraged by my husband and children's backing and support." As a Taekwon-Do instructor at the Schoolchildren's Hall in Sinuiju City, North Phyongan Province, she is now devoting herself to training juvenile Taekwon-Do players. |
