At the Unpha Coal Mine he learned in detail about the preparations for technological development to comprehensively use sapropelic coal. To make an effective use of this coal abundant in Unpha area is of weighty significance in developing economy and improving the standard of people's living in North Hwanghae Province.

He called upon the Cabinet and relevant units to render sincere help in the construction of pits at the Unpha Coal Mine.

A consultative meeting held on the spot discussed measures to undertake projects for the effective use of the coal in the area rich in that coal and favorable for mining and transporting it.

He also visited Sariwon University of Geology and farms in Hwangju County. He took measures for solving issues in scientific researches of the educational and scientific institutions and adopting farming methods suitable to the regional characters.

Earlier, he visited the experimental plot of the Academy of Agricultural Science where he learned about technical specifications, performance, etc. of farm machines newly manufactured and improved by the Institute of Agricultural Mechanization, Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, Hamhung, Haeju and Kwaksan trailing farm machine plants and the Chongsan Cooperative Farm in Kangso District.
