He called on the complexes to accelerate technical updating under a long-term plan, saying that increased steel production at those complexes through their modernization is of great significance in building an economic power.

Consultative meetings held there discussed measures to be taken by relevant units to round off technological updating as required by the party's idea of pushing back the frontiers of latest science and technology and successfully ensure the supply of concentrated ore and coal for boosting production.
