Korean People Raged at Japan Persisting in Claim to Tok Islets

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries' scheme to grab Tok islets in the East Sea of Korea has reached an extreme phase. They let a gunship of the "Self-Defense Forces" fly in the sky above Tok islets in September this year and are now trying to bring "dominium over the islets" to the International Court of Justice within October. Such moves have fueled the resentment against Japan among the Korean people. Kim Un Thaek, a department head of the History Faculty of Kim Il Sung University, told KCNA: I can hardly repress surging indignation at Japan's persistent claim to ownership of Tok islets. They belong to the territory of Korea from a historical point of view and in the light of international law. The islets have been under the jurisdiction of Korea for 1 500 years. It is just Korea that discovered and put them under its sovereignty before any other country. This fact was evidently proved by Korea's historical records "Samgukyusa", "Samguksagi", "Koryo History" and "Rijo Sillok" and map "Sinjungdonggukyojisungnam". And the Japanese history books written in the middle age also say Tok islets belong to Korea's territory. Japan's claim to the islets is as good as an encroachment upon the sovereignty of the Korean nation. Song Chol Song, an officer of the Korean People's Army, said: It is an unpardonable military provocation that Japan let SDF warships and gunship intrude into the waters around and sky over Tok islets. The islets are an inviolable part of Korea's territory. The Korean People's Army stands guard against the reckless moves of Japan to grab the islets. |
