The contest helped players in the groups of sports teams and amateur teams who took part in it and working people put sports technique on a higher level, clearly proving the validity and vitality of the Workers' Party of Korea's sports policy.

A new world record was set in shooting event of the contest and national records were renewed in weightlifting, swimming, archery, field and track, speed skating and other events.

In the group of sports teams men and women players of the April 25 Sports Team emerged winners in football, basketball and volleyball events.

In the group of amateur teams players of Pyongyang came first in men's football and men's and women's basketball and volleyball events.

Its closing ceremony took place at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.

At the ceremony a rotating silk banner was awarded to the April 25 Sports Team and the organization in Pyongyang which placed first in team standing in the contest and trophies and medals went to the organizations and players who proved successful in different events.

Ri Jong Mu, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made a closing address.
