This reality would have been unthinkable without the devoted efforts of general secretary Kim Jong Il, who clarified the truth of socialism and inevitability of its victory.

In the 1990s when socialism was collapsed in some countries and the imperialists were intensifying the anti-socialist moves as never before, he conducted energetic ideo-theoretical activities to defend socialism.

He authored "On Some Problems of the Ideological Foundation of Socialism", "Socialism in Our Country Is Korean-Style Socialism Guided by the Juche Idea", "Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable", "The Historical Lesson in Building Socialism and the General Line of Our Party" and other works. In those works he proved the advantages, scientific accuracy and invincibility of Korean-style socialism and dealt a telling blow to the imperialists and their stooges slandering socialism as "totalitarian", "barrack-like" and "administrative and commanding". He also made clear the basic reason for the frustration of socialism in some countries.

On November 1, Juche 83 (1994) Kim Jong Il made public another celebrated work "Socialism Is a Science" for the revival of socialism and its development. In the work he proved the ultimate victory of socialism, stating that the crumbling of socialism in various countries does not mean the failure of socialism as science but the bankruptcy of opportunism which corrupted socialism.

The world progressives appreciated this work as a "manifesto heralding the dawn of the socialist movement" and "comprehensive thesis on socialism". In a little more than three months after its publication, the work was studied and disseminated in 60 odd countries and reported by more than 210 media.

Thanks to Kim Jong Il's ideo-theoretical feats, the cause of socialism has dynamically advanced, displaying its immovable truth and vitality.
