Artistes' Sports Contest Held
Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- The 43rd sports contest among artistes took place at Kim Il Sung Stadium on Friday.

This annual event helps powerfully demonstrate the validity and vitality of the Workers' Party of Korea's policy which calls for popularizing physical exercise and sports and making them part of everyday life.

The contest was divided into the groups representing cinematic art, theatrical art and fine art. Its participants competed in various events such as football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, group forced march and tug of war.

Attracting the spectators' attention were breath-taking ball games in which players succeeded in scoring goals and points and displayed superb skills. Also peculiar were defence sports including group forced march in which players helped and led each other and overcame hurdles with a high degree of patience and admirable physical strength, demonstrating the might of unity, and traditional sports events including yut-game and ssirum (Korean wrestling).
