Kim Jong Un Visits Newly Built Breast Cancer Research Centre at Pyongyang Maternity Hospital

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean people's army, visited the newly built Breast Cancer Research Centre at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital. He went round various places of the centre such as vessel endoscope room, lacteal gland photographing room, ultrasonic wave examination room, electrocardiography room, sick-rooms, etc. to learn in detail about its construction, performance and specifications of medical equipment and its management and operation. He entered its lobby and said he felt as if he were in a palace. He was satisfied to hear officials of the hospital say they learnt a lot from the work style of the soldier-builders. He was pleased to hear from officials in the field concerned say that the hospital could provide medical service to women not only of Pyongyang City but also all other parts of the country through tele-healthcare system. He underscored the need to take good care of equipment, looking at cutting-edge equipment such as multi-purpose Roentgen, CT, etc. one by one. He said it was important to prevent mastopathy and breast cancer, find out and treat them at an early stage through regular examination of women now that the hospital has such cutting-edge equipment. After coming up to the balcony of the first floor, he recollected that leader Kim Jong Il gave an earnest instruction on building a modern breast cancer research centre at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital in November last year, the last days of his life, and personally examined its blueprint. He told officials of the center to successfully manage and operate it associated with the profound loving care of Kim Jong Il. When he dropped in at a sick-room, he asked the officials if the patients would not feel any inconvenience in their living. He showed such deep care as making sure that sick rooms were provided with liquid crystal TV sets and refrigerators. While going round the general operation room, he said it was most important to fully ensure germ-free environment. At an intensive-care room, he urged doctors on duty to have a real time watch on life index of the patients. He, at the same time, looked at varieties of white gowns and slippers provided to the doctors, nurses and patients by the party. He extended thanks to the soldier-builders who took part in the construction of the centre, expressing great satisfaction over its construction. He added that it looked impeccable in any aspect and women would be pleased to visit it. He told the officials of the hospital to creditably fulfill their mission and duty as faithful servants of the people, always bearing in mind the emotion-charged autograph sent by Kim Jong Il to it on February 3, 1993, hoping them to serve the people. Accompanying him were Jang Song Thaek, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission, Kim Ki Nam and Choe Thae Bok, members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, Kim Yang Gon, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and Kim Pyong Ho and Pak Chun Hong, vice department directors of the C.C., the WPK. |
