The commentary accused the south Korean military authorities of asserting the purpose of the annual security consultative meeting held with the U.S. on Oct. 24 was to establish a system for extended deterrence to cope with the threat from the north.

One cannot but express deep concern over the fact that the meeting was held at a time when the U.S. included MD in the extended deterrent means and held confabs for establishing the system in Northeast Asia and undisguisedly urged south Korea to join in it.

It went on:

There is a suspicion that through the meeting both sides forged the relations of sharing information and cooperation for establishing MD by agreeing to the provision of a system of counter-action including combination of the U.S. system for preemptive strike and missile system of south Korea.

The U.S. secretary of Defense at the press conference held in connection with the consultative meeting clarified that the U.S. steadily discussed the issue of establishing MD with south Korea.

The south Korean regime has gone through the procedures for joining in MD, but it denied the fact. This is nothing but a mockery of the people.

The commentary urged the authorities to stipulate south Korea's refusal to join in MD.
