The statement recalled that the authorities sentenced Yun Ki Jin, co-chairman of the Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty, to one year and a half in prison on charges of the violation of the "Security Law".

It was unacceptable by people with normal thinking faculty that the authorities took issue with the letters and articles written by him in prison, branding them as "literature benefiting enemy" even though they went through strict examination, it noted.

The judgment passed on to Yun is nothing but a last-ditch effort of the conservative authorities in fear of the advance of the progressive forces, the statement said, urging the authorities to face up to the reality and immediately release him.
