Meeting of Active Forestry Workers Held
Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- A meeting of active forestry workers was held at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday.

Present there were Choe Yong Rim, Kim Ki Nam, Ri Myong Su, Mun Kyong Dok, officials of party, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions, local party, power organs and relevant units and active officials and workers in the forestry field.

"On Further Developing Forestry," historic letter sent by leader Kim Jong Il to officials and workers in the forestry field on August 10, 1992, the 30th anniversary of the Day of Forestry Workers was conveyed in the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the achievements made in the drive for carrying out the tasks set forth in the letter and experience gained in the course. Discussed at the meeting were measures for bringing about a fresh turn in developing forestry.

Speeches were made following the report by Vice Premier Jon Sung Hun.

The reporter and speakers said the DPRK forestry could have an important guiding principle, its landmark, as Kim Jong Il in his letter clarified the importance of forestry in building an economic power and improving the people's living standard and set forth tasks and ways for carrying them out.

Prospecting for the overall forestry resources of the country has been conducted and, on its basis, the general planning for cyclic timber-felling pushed forward in the past under the wise leadership of the peerlessly great persons, they said, adding that this provided a sure guarantee for timber production and forestry creation on a long-term basis.

They called for making miracles and innovations in the timber production and forestry creation by fully embodying Kim Jong Il's patriotism and thus making tangible contributions to building a thriving nation and improving the standard of people's living.
