Japan Slammed for Evading Blame for Crimes against Humanity

Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- The south Korean paper Segye Daily on Nov. 1 carried an editorial slamming Japan for evading the blame for crimes against humanity. The editorial recalled that Japan became a target of accusation and condemnation at a recent meeting of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva as it is turning its face away from the sexual slavery enforced by it in the past. Ringing out from the meeting were voices that no statute of limitation is applied to the issue of sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army, Japan should recognize its legal responsibility for crimes against humanity and it should take steps for paying reparation acceptable to the victims, the editorial said. However, Japan is still insisting on its earlier stand that the issue of sexual slavery has already been settled, it noted. It is natural for the Japanese government to accept the just demand of the international community, sincerely reflect on its past history and take sincere steps for the liquidation of the crimes against humanity, it urged. |
