Repeal of "Security Law" Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- People from all walks of life in south Korea and the international community are becoming increasingly vocal demanding the abolition of the "Security Law". Shortly ago, the UN Human Rights Commission adopted a resolution recommending the south Korean puppet authorities to repeal the draconic "Security Law". The UN and other international bodies demanded an immediate repeal of the law in the past, too. Voices demanding its repeal were also heard from the U.S. which wire-pulled the enactment of the SL and its retrogressive revision. In the wake of the adoption of the resolution, the south Korean people are demanding the puppet forces abolish the law as soon as possible, saying it is the worst law condemned by the international community. Media also asserted this resolution reconfirmed what anachronistic witch hunt the Ministry of Defense's recent labeling of those calling for the abolition of the SL the "enemy of the 'ROK' army" is, adding it offered an occasion of proving that its repeal is natural. As the whole nation and mankind branded, the SL is the worst law in its purpose, the background against which it was enacted, target of its application and cruel nature of punishment. It is characterized by provisions against human rights, the nation and reunification as it ruthlessly violates the rights of the nation ranging from the reunification issue, the most vital human rights issue of the Korean nation, to the elementary rights of human beings. What matters is that the Lee Myung Bak group has taken the lead in preserving and abusing the SL, defying the ever stronger demand for its repeal. It has regarded all personages and people aspiring after national reconciliation, unity and reunification as the targets of application of the SL, asserting that "the south cannot live with the north in this bright world", "the south should not consider the north as fellow countrymen with whom the south can live" and "the south should regard the north as the rival in the confrontation". More than 1 840 political parties and organizations were labeled "illegal organizations" by the SL within one and a half years after traitor Lee Myung Bak took office, according to the media of south Korea. According to even understated data published by the puppet forces, the number of those arrested and detained on charges of the violation of the SL increased 350 percent compared with that at the time of the preceding regime. The confrontation and suppression racket kicked off by the traitor on the strength of the SL has reached its climax in enforcing policies against the nation and human rights. Fascist Lee Myung Bak has a completely twisted viewpoint on good and evil. Very much upset by the strong demand for the appointment of a special prosecutor to deal with his hideous scandal on Oct. 5, he blustered "he would appoint the special prosecutor on the basis of the view that even the evil law should be observed." This amounts to misleading with evils the public which demanded the settlement of his crimes though he brought unspeakable sufferings and misfortunes to the whole nation by invoking the law. His outbursts bring to light his true colors as traitor as he described the brutal suppression of people as "something good" in a bid to prolong his remaining days. The SL is nothing but a tool for letting the traitors stay in power and cracking down on human rights as it is a copy of "the Maintenance of the Public Order Act" pursued by the Japanese imperialists while saying "Koreans should obey the Japanese Law, otherwise, they should die" and it contains provisions of the "Proclamation" of the U.S. military administration. History records not a few evil laws including the "Manou Code" of the ancient slave society which was ill-famed for being a harsh law against the rights of human beings and the "Catholic Church Code" which burnt a scholar to death at a church trial for advocating the heliocentric theory. But it does not know such evil law as the SL which imposes national tragedy and misfortunes, strangles justice and democracy and ruthlessly violates human rights. It is a disgrace of the nation and mankind that there still exists such evil law dating back to the old era in which treachery judges patriotism and evil punishes good. It is quite natural for the Korean nation and mankind to strongly demand the abolition of the SL. |
