V.A. Petrov, chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, was elected chairman of the committee and figures of the State Duma, political parties and organizations, Russians related to revolutionary activities of Kim Jong Il and other renowned social figures were chosen as members of the committee.

The committee decided to organize diverse events including remembrance meeting, seminar, round-table talks and lecture and give wide publicity to the personality of Kim Jong Il as a great man and his immortal exploits through media.
