The interviewees said that the national defense committee of the "National Assembly" is to discuss the budget bill for the fiscal year 2013 related to the construction of the Jeju naval base.

They noted that the construction is more unjust and dangerous compared with the project for improving four rivers as the military authorities unilaterally push forward the project, indifferent to the will of the islanders from the outset of its designing, etc.

This is why the project should be stopped, they said, adding that the committee of the NA must cut down the total amount of budget for the project.

They expressed their will to actively struggle to check the construction.

At the end of the press conference, the interviewees conveyed their written opinion to the legislators under the committee.

In the meantime, a demo was held in demand of slashing the budget for the naval base construction before the gate of the NA.
