Present at the inaugural ceremony were personages and members of the New Communist Party of Britain, the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist), the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and the Coordinating Committee of the British Friends of the DPRK.

Andy Brooks, general secretary of the Central Committee of the New Communist Party of Britain, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The committee fixed the period from Dec. 8 to 20 as the one of remembering Kim Jong Il and decided to hold diverse political and cultural events in the period.
