The drill took place in Kunsan U.S. air force base and it envisaged rendering ineffective major targets including the enemy command. The scenario involved the flight of more than 60 fighters belonging to the U.S. imperialists and the puppet air force as well as new type AWACS.

The top U.S. military officials called for carrying on the joint attack drill allegedly to deter a "war".

This reveals the U.S. unchanged hostile policy toward the DPRK and its attempt at a preemptive attack. It is another dangerous military provocation that may drive the situation in the Korean Peninsula and the region to the extremes.

As known, the U.S. has pursued hostile policy toward the DPRK with the mobilization of all means and methods, when taking this year alone, and its moves have gone beyond the limit.

Key Resolve, Foal Eagle, Ulji Freedom Guardian and other joint military exercises staged by the U.S. one after another against the DPRK all the year round were unprecedented in their frequency and intensity.

The U.S. frantic confrontation racket and war provocation moves pursuant to its new defense strategy have created a touch-and-go situation on the peninsula and the region in which a nuclear war may break out any time.

The U.S. often talks about someone's "provocation" but the recent drill proved with added clarity who the real provoker is.

This also gave the lie to the U.S. authorities' loud claim that they have no intent to be hostile toward the DPRK and the commitment made by the U.S. in the February 29 DPRK-U.S. agreement not to take hostile approach toward the DPRK.

The situation urges the DPRK to physically bolster a war deterrent to which it will remain committed.

The DPRK's war deterrent will serve as a powerful means of defending the country's sovereignty and deterring a war on the peninsula. This also provides a sure guarantee for helping direct efforts into economic construction and improvement of people's living standard.

The U.S. had better face up to the situation and stop at once anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK and its moves to provoke a new war.
