The three principles of national reunification -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- laid down by President Kim Il Sung are the basic principles for national reunification consistently maintained by the WPK.

In the whole course of struggle for national reunification the WPK has strictly adhered to the principle for uniting with whoever loves the country and the nation. It is the invariable principle and stand of the WPK to treat with generosity even those who took a wrong path in the past on the principle of not asking about their past if they desire reunification, truly concerned about the destiny of the nation, and join hands with them for improved inter-Korean relations and the reunification of the country.

The national reunification line and policies of the WPK are unanimously supported by all Koreans and display great vitality in practice as they call for rallying all Koreans desirous of improved inter-Korean relations and national reunification irrespective idea, political view and ism.

The adoption of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, noteworthy events in the history of the nation, is the shining fruition of the broadminded compatriotism, bold decision, great efforts and devotion of leader Kim Jong Il who worked heart and soul for national reunification, regarding it as an expression of most ardent patriotism to work for it.

Thanks to the north-south declarations the movement for national reunification has developed into a nationwide patriotic movement both in name and reality.

It is the firm conviction and will of the dear respected Kim Jong Un to build a reunified prospering country on this land true to the noble intention of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who devoted themselves to the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and great national unity.
