Since its formation on November 20, 1990, the movement for national reunification has developed into a movement for solidarity among the three sides on a unique organized basis and into a nation-wide movement which involves various circles though it had been waged separately in the north and the south and overseas, says the article.

Referring to the achievements made by Pomminryon in its struggle to bring about national reconciliation and unity and develop the national reunification movement for more than two decades, the article goes on:

The south Korean Lee Myung Bak regime is now frantically pursuing its policy of confrontation in league with outside forces, becoming evermore desperate with its office drawing to a close. Meanwhile, the "the Saenuri Party" is busy with its dastardly campaign of labeling the democratic pro-reform forces "forces following the north" in a bid to realize its ambition for stay in power with the "presidential election" at hand. This is aimed at keeping the conservative regime in office. These hysteric moves of the puppet conservative group have pushed the inter-Korean relations to a collapse and thrown a stumbling block in the way of developing the movement for national reunification. The prevailing situation urgently requires Pomminryon to fulfill its mission and role as a patriotic reunification movement organization representing the will of all Koreans to achieve independent reunification.

Great national unity provides a sure guarantee for meeting the ever-more undisguised challenges of the anti-reunification forces and preserving and implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration to achieve independent reunification, peace and prosperity. No force on earth can match the strength of the united nation. The history of the arduous movement for national reunification eloquently proves that if the Korean nation unites close as one under the banner of reunification and patriotism, it can certainly frustrate any move of the anti-reunification forces.
