Drive for Providing Better Sports Environment Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- Sports facilities have been built or renovated on an extension basis in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea thanks to the people's patriotic will to turn the country into a sports power. In the capital city of Pyongyang, there appeared the People's Open-Air Ice Rink, the Fitness Center in Thongil Street and the Yanggakdo Sports Village as well as parks for physical training. The football stadium of the Wolmido Sports Team was renewed with synthetic grass and shades. Building sports facilities is also making headway in various provinces of the country. Grounds for sports events, including Phyongsong Stadium, were newly built or improved in South Phyongan Province. The Namhung Youth Chemical Complex set up more than ten sports facilities at the Chongchun Health Complex. A gymnasium with a 600-seat auditorium was built in Pukchang County and a football stadium in Unsan County. In North Phyongan Province the work is going on to build a football stadium with turf ground and 2 000-seat auditorium at Cha Kwang Su Sinuiju University of Education No. 1. The campaign for providing better environment for sports activities was launched in other provinces, cities and counties, too, including Sariwon City of North Hwanghae Province and Hamhung City of South Hamgyong Province. |
