At the inaugural ceremonies Rashed Khan Menon, chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Bangladesh, Hilmi Ahmad Salim, chairman of the Socialist Freedom Party of Egypt, and Osvaldo Larriva Alvarado, chairman of the Cuenca Branch of the Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting Korea's Independent and Peaceful Reunification, were elected chairmen of the remembrance committees.

The committees decided to organize political and cultural events including remembrance meeting, seminar on exploits, film show and photo exhibition and widely introduce and disseminate the revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il through mass media on the occasion of the first anniversary of his demise.

They discussed and decided to take an active part in the events to be held on a world-wide scale.
