Compensation for Mass Killings of Civilians before and after War Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Society of Bereaved Families of Civilian Victims in the War staged an action in Seoul on Nov. 20 demanding probe into the truth about mass killings of civilians before and after the war and the compensation for the damage.

The organization held a joint memorial service at the Jogye Temple and honored the memory of the civilians killed by the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces and the Syngman Rhee puppet regime before and after the June 25 war.

Then members of the organization marched as far as the vicinity of a bell house.

The demonstrators lamented that the grudge of the parents and brothers and sisters mercilessly killed by them is running high and the bereaved families are still suffering pain.

At the end of the march the organization made public an appeal.

The appeal condemned the Syngman Rhee regime for committing such inhuman crimes as killing many civilians by mobilizing troops and police.

The Park Chung Hee regime not only forcibly dissolved the organization of the bereaved families which turned out in the action to probe the truth but made no scruple of perpetrating such hooliganism as opening up graves of the victims and destroying their gravestones, the appeal noted.

It accused Lee Myung Bak of shunning the probe into the truth.

It urged the authorities to opt for instituting a special law on probing the truth about the mass killings of civilians and making compensation for the damage.
