Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, chairwoman of the Founding Committee of the Soekarno Foundation for Education, was elected chairwoman of the remembrance committee.

Meanwhile, a Finnish joint committee for remembering Kim Jong Il was inaugurated in Helsinki on November 21.

Antti Sika Aho, chairman of the Finland-Korea Society, Juha Kieksy, chairman of the Finnish National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, Kalevi Wahrman, chairman of the Finnish Communists' League, and Hannu Harju, former chairman of the Communist Workers' Party of Finland for the Peace and Socialism, were elected co-chairmen of the Finnish remembrance committee.

The remembrance committees decided to hold political and cultural events for highly praising the immortal exploits and brilliant career of Kim Jong Il and widely introducing and disseminating them, and conduct media activities.
