According to the principal of the primary school, Ri Myong Hwa, Choe volunteered to work at the school after graduating from a college of physical education in September 1984.

Over the last 20 odd years, the school took the titles for 13 times in national rhythmic gymnastics tournaments of primary schools. It garnered 220 gold and 200 silver medals while turning out many rhythmic gymnasts. The school gained the title of the twice model physical training school.

For her devoted services, Choe was awarded the title of the October 8 Model Teacher.
