Elimination of Old Forces Is Basic Requirement for Realizing New Politics in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The upcoming "presidential election" in south Korea puts the south Korean people at the crossroads of whether they allow the present conservative regime to stay in power or realize their desire for new politics and new life by punishing it. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a bylined article. If the south Koreans are to realize new politics and new life, they should reject the old politics of the "Saenuri Party," reactionary conservative forces, says the article, adding: To foil the "Saenuri Party's" confrontation with fellow countrymen is the first important step to be taken by the south Koreans to ensure peace and security through new politics. The past five years brought to light the true colors of the "Saenuri Party" as an anti-reunification political party. The party has been talkative about "revamp" and "changes" ahead of the "presidential election" but this is no more than rhetoric to make a mockery of the public opinion. It is indispensable for making progressive development of south Korean society to put an end to the old politics of the "Saenuri Party." The crimes committed by traitor Lee Myung Bak during his 5-year office are the product of his conspiracy with the party. The party's desperate bid to stay in power is not prompted by any commitment to bringing "happiness to people" or "achieving economic democracy" but by its last-ditch effort to prolong the remaining days of the old forces forsaken by the era. The south Korean people should not pin any hope on the party, but reject its traitorous rule in order to achieve social justice and progress and ensure their right to existence. Whether to open up a new era of improved north-south relations and democracy or to allow the history of dictatorship and anti-reunification repeat itself entirely hinges on the south Korean people. |
