Bonakele Majuba, secretary of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party who is chairman of the South African Association of Friendship and Solidarity with Korean People, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The remembrance committee decided to hold colorful political and cultural events on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the demise of Kim Jong Il.
