The appeal said December 17 this year marks the 1st anniversary of the demise of Kim Jong Il.

It said that Kim Jong Il is the symbol of the greatness of the DPRK, adding:

He performed outstanding exploits as the defender of socialism and justice. He raised the international position and dignity of the DPRK and made immortal contributions to the human cause of independence by conducting energetic activities for the socialist cause, global peace and stability, friendship and solidarity among peoples under the banner of independence against imperialism.

His historic and important contributions will always be kept in the hearts of humankind and be brilliantly recorded in the world history.

We call on the organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in different countries to inaugurate remembrance committees and solemnly mark the anniversary of the outstanding leader's demise by holding seminars on his works and exhibitions and releasing statements.

This is the way of paying highest respects to Kim Jong Il, who lives an immortal life.
