The academy is shouldering important mission to defend our party scientifically and theoretically, help the party and the state in shaping policies and take the lead in developing social sciences as a whole with great achievements in scientific research.

Only when the academy successfully carries out its role as firm defender of the party's policies and the devoted helper and good adviser loyal to the party, can it be said that it has fulfilled its responsibility and duty as the important organ supporting the party in terms of ideas and theories.

First of all, it should explain and prove in depth the truth, originality, justice and tremendous vitality of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and widely disseminate it at home and abroad.

It should properly carry on the work of systematizing and theorizing in a scientific way the great successes and valuable experience gained by our party and people in the revolutionary struggle and construction, and handing them over to posterity.

It is an important task facing the Academy of Social Sciences to further develop all the fields of social sciences, study and settle the problems arising in the construction of a thriving socialist nation and make them pay off in practice.

The academy should carry out well the work of opening up the fields of new researches and developing them in the Korean way.

It should direct efforts to seizing control of the universal research work in the field of social sciences, developing social sciences and solving all the problems in a unified way with the use of collective wisdom.

It should decisively improve and strengthen the work of social science information and bring about a turn in training talents of social sciences.
