AIDS Prevention Activities Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has made big efforts for the prevention of AIDS.

On the occasion of World AIDS Day (Dec. 1), KCNA met Pak Myong Su, director of the State Sanitary Inspection Board.

Pak said:

""We have stepped up consultations, check-ups, observation, estimation and control to maintain no-AIDS status quo.

A well-organized anti-AIDS system is established in all parts of the country ranging from Pyongyang City to rural communities.

The State AIDS Commission gives unified guidance over the preventive work. In close collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, the Commission is conducting intensive activities to awaken the people to the disease. It also ensures consultations and check-ups for residents and foreign travelers.

Health institutions carry on medical check-ups and observation for pregnant women and blood recipients on a regular basis. Related organs and public organizations render positive assistance to the works.

The DPRK government will keep up close ties with international agencies for implementing the anti-AIDS strategy."

The World Health Organization themed 2011-2015 as "Zero new HIV infections, zero AIDS-related death, Zero discrimination" and is working to make the danger-ridden people get access to services for prevention and control of the disease.
