Rodong Sinmun Calls for Putting End to North-South Confrontation

Pyongyang, December 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a bylined article calls upon all the Koreans at home and abroad to turn out in the patriotic struggle to put an end to confrontation with the big hope and conviction of the improvement of the north-south relations. The past five year-long history of the north-south relations was the nightmare-like one which greatly disappointed Koreans and aroused resentment among them who were desirous of national reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification, the article says, and goes on: Excitement pervaded the country after the June 15 joint declaration was published. But it all disappeared and the inter-Korean relations were driven into the worst confrontation, creating the crisis on the Korean Peninsula in which a war may break out any time. The Lee Myung Bak group has driven the inter-Korean relations, which had dynamically advanced promising the hopeful future of the nation, into a total deadlock, bringing them back to those of distrust and confrontation. This is an unpardonable crime against the nation and reunification. The inter-Korean relations on which hinge the destiny of the nation and the prospect of national reunification cannot be a bargaining chip of the traitors' policy for confrontation with the DPRK. In order to restore the inter-Korean relations that were driven into the worst catastrophe and put spurs to the trend of the June 15 era of reunification, the pro-U.S. conservative regime, the regime for confrontation such as the Lee Myung Bak regime, should not be allowed to stay in power in south Korea. To shatter the moves of the puppet conservative group and carry forward the June 15 era of reunification is the only way of independent reunification, peace and prosperity. The south Korean conservative group is running the whole gamut of intrigues to realize its ambition to stay in power at any cost through the upcoming "presidential election". It is as clear as noonday that if the conservative regime emerges again in south Korea, it is impossible to achieve social progress and reform nor is it possible to improve the inter-Korean relations and remove the danger of a nuclear war from this land. |
