Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says in a bylined commentary in this regard:

This clearly proves who is the very one aggravating the tension and wrecking the peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Military moves of the south Korean puppet forces on five islands in the West Sea assume grave danger. Latest offensive means and military forces are being amassed there and all kinds of war maneuvers aimed to invade the DPRK staged there one after another. This predicts that an overall war against it may break out any time as the maneuvers are ones for "striking not only the bases of provocation but forces supporting and commanding them".

We cannot but take a serious note of the fact that the maneuver was staged and deployment of cruise missiles made against this backdrop. The military provocation by the puppet forces proves that their strategy for mounting a preemptive attack on the north has entered a dangerous phase.

What matters is that their moves are part of a plot to create "security crisis" and "fear of security" in south Korean society with the "presidential election" at hand.

It will not be possible to defuse tension nor ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula and Koreans will not be able to evade the disaster of a nuclear war as long as such group of traitors keen on the moves to ignite a war against the north for meeting the factional interests and realizing political and strategic goal indifferent to the inter-Korean relations and the destiny of the nation is allowed to stay in power.

The situation drives home again the Koreans the point that in order to save inter-Korean relations from a deadlock and achieve the peace of the country and the prosperity of the nation, they should resolutely punish the group of traitors who coil up the tension, wreck peace and seek confrontation and war in south Korea.
