Sitaram Yechury, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and A. I. Donchenko, chairman of the Blagobeshensk Association for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, were elected chairmen of the remembrance committees.

The committees decided to organize diverse events praising Kim Jong Il's revolutionary career and feats on the first anniversary of his demise.
