Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- On display in the historic relics exhibition area of the Pyongyang Folklore Park are more than 130 typical relics and remains.

The area, covering nearly 30 hectares, breaks into primitive, ancient, middle age and Korean map sections.

The primitive section shows a cave proving that Korea is one of the cradles of human culture and sculptures portraying Korean hominids and such primitive animals as deer with big and broad antlers. It also showcases caves and cottages dating back to the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods.

In the ancient section there are duplications of dwelling houses, dolmens and earthen jar tombs and Kangsang tomb and Sunjang tomb in Ryongsan-ri representing the features of the slave state.

The middle age section consists of models of tombs, pagodas, Koryo relics, remains of the feudal monarch and structures containing remains of monks. In the section there are miniatures of the mausoleums of ancient kings, including Tangun, ancestral father of the Korean nation, Tongmyong, founder of Koguryo, and Wang Kon, founder of Koryo, as well as tombs of Ko Kuk Won, the 21st king of Koguryo Kingdom (227 B.C.-668 A.D.), and Jonghyo, princess of Palhae (698-926). Duplications of the tomb murals of Koguryo, listed as the world's cultural heritages, are also displayed there.

The pagoda section displays model pagodas of Koguryo's Kumgang Temple, Miruk Temple, Paekje's Miruk Temple and Silla's Hwangryong Temple as well as pagodas dating back to the middle ages.

In the section of relics dating back to the Koryo Kingdom and the Feudal Joson Dyansty there are Kyongju Stone Buddha Grotto, a masterpiece of architectures in the middle ages, "Chonsangryolchabunyajido" (astronomical chart), pigyokjinchonroe known as the prototype of time bomb in the world history of firearms, the tortoise-shaped boat, the world's first iron-clad ship, and a big panorama of the sweeping victory over foreign invaders in the waters off Hansan Island.

Also there are nine structures containing remains of famous monks, including the great Buddhist priest Sosan who distinguished himself in the period of the Imjin Patriotic War (1592-1598).

Seen on the Korean map section are duplications of President Kim Il Sung's old home in Mangyongdae and anti-Japanese hero Kim Jong Suk's old home in Hoeryong City and beauty spots and pavilions, noted as eight scenic spots each in northwestern and northeastern parts of Korea. The section classifies eight provinces, administrative units of the feudal Joson state, into courses of tour, vividly portraying Jeju and Ullung islands and Tok Islets.
