Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il in his lifetime showed loving care for the family of Zhou Bao-zhong, an anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter of China. In the period of the revolutionary struggle against the Japanese imperialists, the common enemy of Korea and China, President Kim Il Sung established close relations with Zhou Bao-zhong. Kim Jong Il allowed Zhou's family members to attend the memorial service held in Pyongyang to commemorate Kim Il Sung's 3rd death anniversary and invited them to the celebrations of the 50th DPRK birthday. Whenever they came to the DPRK, he personally looked into their itinerary, taking good care of them during their stay in the country. During his military inspection tour, he pleasantly met family members of Zhou Wei, daughter of Zhou Bao-zhong. It was his first meeting with Zhou Wei since 1948. Recalling at the meeting the letter written by Zhou Bao-zhong to the President during the Korean War (June 1950-July 1953), he spoke highly of the relations with Zhou's families and even looked back upon Zhou Wei's mother. Deeply moved by his deep care, Zhou Wei's two daughters sang in Korean the "Song of Best Wishes", composed by Kim Jong Il in his childhood. Kim Jong Il praised Zhou Wei for having done good job for the DPRK-China friendship and hoped that she would continue living a worthwhile life. Her family members were touched so much by his strong sense of revolutionary obligation. |
