Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The Nigerian National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea posted on its internet website an article titled "Guardian of Socialism" on Nov. 24 on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army (KPA). The article said Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the KPA marked an event of historic significance in defending and glorifying socialism. It referred to the stratagem with which Kim Jong Il frustrated the moves of the enemies by displaying his matchless courage and grit when the imperialists focused their efforts on the operation to stifle the DPRK, vociferating about "the total end of socialism" at the end of the last century. It went on: Kim Jong Il's inspection of the Tabaksol Post of the Korean People's Army on January 1, 1995 was a solemn declaration that he would defend socialism to the last under the uplifted banner of Songun. He channeled primary efforts into augmenting the politico-ideological power of the KPA in every way. He saw to it that the military and technical power of the KPA was rapidly augmented, and paid deep attention to the development of the defence industry of the country, making it possible for the DPRK to satisfactorily produce and supply modern arms and equipment by its own efforts and technology. Thanks to the tremendous military capability, the Korean people are energetically pushing forward the building of a thriving nation despite ceaseless challenges and military threats from the hostile forces including the U.S. |
