This was clarified by Sin Sang Chol who was a member of the former joint investigation team on the case in his book "'Cheonan' warship hit a rock" published on Dec. 3.

According to him, a report on the investigation worked out by the section for examining combat preparations of the Joint Chiefs of Staff after the occurrence of the case was submitted to its chairman.

The chairman summoned O Pyong Hung, head of the examination office, and ordered him to make at least 40 corrections in the report.

It was said that the report was announced as an official stand of the military authorities after sentences dealing with the DPRK were contained in the report.

A lawmaker from the Democratic United Party held a press conference as regards the disclosure of the distorted fact.

He asserted that the report was worked out in such a way as to create impression that the case occurred when the Joint Chiefs of Staff was making relevant preparations at that time in anticipation of the attack of a submarine but it was a lie.
