Anniversary of Fact-finding Group for Probe into Truth about Forcible Drafting of Koreans Marked in Japan
Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- An Osaka meeting took place on Nov. 30 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Fact-finding Group for the Probe into the Truth about the Forcible Drafting of Koreans.

Present there were members of the Osaka fact-finding group, Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens.

The participants saw a video showing victims to sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army testifying to the facts.

Then, Yoshihiro Sorano, secretary general of the Japanese side to the Osaka fact-finding group, made a keynote report.

He said that the fact-finding group has waged actions demanding for Japan's apology and reparation for its inhuman crimes such as sexual slavery and forcible drafting of Koreans.

He denounced the Japanese government for evading the responsibilities and trying to keep the crimes buried into oblivion. He stressed that Japan-DPRK relations cannot improve unless Japan's past crimes are liquidated.

An appeal was adopted at the meeting.

It underlined the need for Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens to support each other to conduct positive activities for the reinstatement of the Korean victims to sexual slavery and forcible drafting and for the guarantee of rights to Koreans in Japan.

A special lecture was given at the meeting as regards the issue of applying the tuition-waiver program for Korean schools in Japan.

Lecturers said the national education has been defended by the struggle of the Koreans in Japan despite the Japanese authorities' suppression since the struggle for education waged on April 24 in 1948.

They laid bare the unreasonableness of the Japanese government's policy of discriminating national education, the policy of excluding Korean schools only from the tuition-waiver program for senior high schools.
