The 4th Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea, held in April, adopted a decision on holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the eternal WPK general secretary in accordance with the desire of all the people. The Fifth Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly specified in the DPRK Constitution that Kim Jong Il be eternal chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and adopted a relevant ordinance.

It was an ardent desire of the servicepersons and civilians of the DPRK to have leader Kim Jong Il's statues erected in the country, together with President Kim Il Sung's, when he was alive. But the leader persistently refused to accept their desire and, instead, saw to it that statues of anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, heroes and patriotic martyrs were built. That was why the people deeply regretted having erected no statue for him in his lifetime.

At last, his statues were erected at the Mansudae Art Studio on the occasion of the first Day of the Shining Star (Feb. 16) and on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang on the occasion of President Kim Il Sung's centenary birth anniversary (April 15). Later, more statues appeared one after another in different parts of the country, including Kim Il Sung Military University, the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces and Kanggye City in Jagang Province. As of December 2, the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il have been visited by 6 074 000 local people, more than 2,600 overseas compatriots and over 26 900 foreigners.

Large portraits and mosaics picturing smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il were built up in Pyongyang, North Hamgyong Province, Rason City, South Phyongan and South Hwanghae provinces and other parts of the country and towers carrying words "The great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il will always be with us" were erected across the country.

The Kumsusan Memorial Palace, where Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il lie in state, was renamed the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun.

The birthday of Kim Jong Il was instituted as Day of the Shining Star and Kim Jong Il was awarded the title of DPRK Generalissimo, Order of Kim Il Sung, Kim Il Sung Prize and the title of the DPRK Hero.

And the Order of Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Il Prize, Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize and Kim Jong Il Children Honor Prize were instituted as the highest order and prizes of the DPRK.

The credit for all these measures went to the wise guidance of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un made public such celebrated works as "Let Us Hold Great Comrade Kim Jong Il in High Esteem as General Secretary of Our Party Forever and Successfully Accomplish the Revolutionary Cause of Juche", formulating Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as eternal guidelines of the WPK.

The DPRK people are now determined to surely accomplish the cause of the Juche revolution under the Songun guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un, holding in high esteem Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as their eternal leaders.
