The Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences laid a scientific basis for mass-producing stock saplings of dwarf apple trees by way of tissue culture. It has already turned out hundreds of stock saplings.

It also succeeded in researches into interleukin-2 injection, an anti-neoplastic medicine, and nerve stem cell, opening up a vista for treatment of such incurable diseases as tumor, spontaneous gangrene and neuroparalysis caused by injury of spinal cord.

Meanwhile, chips were developed to test pathogenic microorganism and gene dislocation crops and successes made in researches into new species of rice adapted to tideland-turned paddy and fast-growing fish breeds.

Besides, foundations were laid to carry on the cultivation and introduction of new species of turf under a long-term plan.
