In his lifetime Kim Jong Il had worked heart and soul for the wellbeing of the people, regarding them as his Heaven.

It was one day in April Juche 68 (1979) that a consultative meeting for the construction of a yeast plant was convened at which officials proposed to put off the construction for the country's financial straits.

In this regard, Kim Jong Il said that economic value should not be taken into account for the sake of the people and all government money should be used up if necessary to provide them with better living conditions.

When being reported that harmful gas was leaking from the sintering furnace at the Nampho Smeltery, he told officials to blow up the furnace workshop for workers' health, and later took a step to remove the smeltery.

On September 5, 2005, he visited the Miru Plain to acquaint himself with peasants' opinion on dry-field rice, cultivated for the first time. And he was glad to hear that they welcomed it.

Whenever a building was erected or a piece of music created, he would learn about the people's view on them above all.

In this way the leader had made all his energies to the wellbeing and happiness of the people until the last moments of his life.

So, the then presidential envoy to the Far East Region of Russia wrote in his reminiscences that all activities of leader Kim Jong Il were for the only one goal, which is to bring welfare and happiness to the people.
