Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- The conservative group of south Korea including the puppet Ministry of Unification is now busy working out video messages of "divided families," while creating impression that it is interested in the reunion of separated families and relatives. The Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society Friday released a detailed report to disclose the crimes the Lee Myung Bak group and the "Saenuri Party" have committed by disturbing and derailing the reunion of separated families and relatives between the north and the south for five years of their office. It said: The greatest misfortune the Koreans have suffered due to the division of the country caused by foreign forces is that families and relatives are forced to live, without knowing their whereabouts for decades, since they were separated from each other. The north and the south reached an important agreement for alleviating such suffering and misfortune of the fellow countrymen through the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration. The Lee group and the "Saenuri Party", however, deprived Koreans of this joy overnight. After coming to power the puppet conservative group totally denied the inter-Korean declarations, and blocked all humantarian cooperation undertakings including reunion of separated families and relatives provided for by the declarations, talking about "lost decade." The Lee group drove the north-south Red Cross dialogue for solving the issue of separated families and relatives into a collapse. After seizing power in February, 2008, the puppet conservative group turned down all agreements reached at the 9th north-south Red Cross talks, asserting "the new regime is not obliged to implement the agreements made by the former regimes". A particular mention should be made of the fact that the "Saenuri Party" zealously joined in the confrontation racket of the authorities, describing the DPRK's positive and sincere proposals for Red Cross dialogue as "stopgap measures" and "intrigues for securing justifications" and "proposals for creating split in the south." Utterly indifferent to the misfortunes and sufferings of the separated families and relatives, the conservative group has never put forward even a single proposal for the reunion of the separated families and relatives but taken a very insincere approach towards the positive proposal of the DPRK in the whole period of its office. Since the emergence of the Lee conservative regime there has been almost no reunion of separated families and relatives. The group has persistently turned its face away from a video meeting and the exchange of video messages between the separated families and relatives. The north side set up even a venue of video meeting furnished with latest facilities in Pyongyang for the purpose of reenergizing the video meeting. But that place has never been used due to the conservative group's obstructions to the video meeting. The group completely paralyzed the function and role of the south Korean Red Cross in a bid to torpedo the north-south Red Cross humanitarian undertakings. The south Korean Red Cross not only has no independent mandate to discuss the issue of humanitarian work with the north but is not allowed to send or receive even a notice without permission of the puppet Ministry of Unification. Worse still, its delegate is obliged to read out a speech written by the ministry at the north-south Red Cross talks as it is. The chief delegate of the south side who claimed to be an executive member of the Red Cross read out a text of a speech with the "Ministry of Unification" written on its cover during the north-south Red Cross working contact in September, 2010, becoming a laughing stock of domestic and foreign public. The conservative group behaved outrageously after taking over even Red Cross humanitarian work. It barred the construction of a center for reunion of separated families and relatives in Mt. Kumgang from being completed though it started under an agreement of the north and the south. The puppet group and the "Saenuri Party" can never evade the responsibility for having increased the sufferings of the separated families and relatives in the north and the south by totally denying the inter-Korean declarations during the five years of their office, concluded the report. |
